1/2 senses nonetheless
Life is full of obstacles and challenges, but what really matters most is the decision one makes, to face the challenge or to walk away without even trying...... v.Hah 2007

This is what working in an audit firm does to you
Now, before i get started, i have got nothing against audit firms, but i do have friends working or have worked in audit firms before and you know who you are if you are reading this. :)
For aspiring auditors, accountants and financiers out there, working in a reputable audit firm is a must for their first few years after they graduate. Call it what you want, working in such a place is "a rite of passage" before one is deemed "worthy" to join the elite in the numerical world and from there forth, gaining the prestigious title of a Chartered Accountant. Having said this, it is no different from how in certain tribes, there are rituals of blood letting, getting bitten bybullet ants, wrestling with crocodiles to the more common circumcision, all to gain their manhood. Want to find out more? Visitthis site for more information on how boys become men, if they survive of course. hehehe
Looking back at myself, i had my trials too as a kid. Not so drastic as the examples above, but still rather drastic if u look at it. It ranges from anything from confronting a pack of stray dogs in my neighborhood, jumping off a 2 storey high structure, camping in the woods to cycling off to a neighboring town. I was indistructible in my teens and thinking back now after a good 15 years, my more matured senses kick in trying to comprehend how i survived all that. At that time, it was something that i thought would impress others around me, to gain acceptance amongst my peers but little did i know, that for all it's worth, it was my own rite of passage, they were the things i did to prove to myself that i have done these thing, and most of all, to impress and appease the me in me.
Coming back to the world of numbers, here's what happens to a fresh debutant in his first month of work. My best wishes to him.

Aliens? They exist more than you think............
Hi all! I'm back again! Arsenal is back in business with a comprehensive victory over Stoke City, 2-0 to the Arsenal!
Anyway, a colleague of mine went visiting China recently and they had to fill in some kind of 'Departure Form' for one reason or another. What was more funny than offensive was how visitors were referred to as 'Aliens'. Now, in my vocabulary, 'Aliens' in my understanding means this and the come via this and more often than not, does thisand almost always land, invade, attack only New York city for some reason.
However, my point is, it is really interesting and amusing how the definition of aliens are. Perhaps it's referring to the alien who come via wooden boats, going over borders and individuals who come into a country without proper documentation via illegal means. Well, here's a definition provided online for the word 'alien'. I guess, once we step into another country, our status is no different from an actual alien who happens to enter the same country as well. How odd. The funny thing is, if we are aliens, then why do we have the same body, bone structure as bleed blood that is red in color? How different are we actually from each other? At the end of the day, we are all homo sapient in which definition can be found here.
This topic can go on and on and on till the aliens come home. What did I say?

Beverages in my life...... so far........
I keep telling myself that i need to blog more, need to blog more, need to blog more, need to blog more, need to blog more, need to blog more, need to blog more, need to blog more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, mor.................................. but i have failed. However, this shall not keep me from blogging occasionally nevertheless! :P
I always remember when i was a young kid, i hated drinks like coffee, tea, beer and alcohol. It was just too bitter and it left a bad aftertaste in your mouth. Instead, i loved fizzy drinks like Fanta, Coke and Miranda, Fanta being an all time favorite as i loved grape juice. All this made a 180 degree 'U' turn when i entered my twenties. My tastebuds suddenly decided to like all the things i dislike. All of a sudden, i could not live without coffee every morning, tea became a necessary necessity, alcohol became a part of my life, least to say my body. It practically fuels my body. Such is the power of caffeine till it makes the difference between having a purpose to life in contrast to a life without purpose.
Same goes for food as well, liver, pork intestines, beef tripe, etc. have all become culinary fantasies for me when in the past, it was something u pick out of your noodles and dumped on your parents plate with a look of scorn and disgust.
Exagerating as i am, it is amazing how our preference in life change and, i guess the same goes for our priorities too. But i shall leave that discussion for another day.
