Merry Christmas!

Oh how I LOVE Christmas! I love the urge to shop, the hustle and bustle in every store, the decorations, decorating, how Hobby Lobby starts getting me in this mood in July (since that's when they put out their Christmas decorations). Most of all I love that Jesus was born. This was such a special Christmas for us. We were able to start teaching Lux the TRUE, one and ONLY reason for Christmas, which is Jesus.
Every night for the past few weeks we have talked about how Jesus birthday was coming soon. She doesn't really "get" it but its still were important to instill this in her mind and heart.
Also for the past few weeks we have been telling her how Santa is coming to leave her lots of new toys! She didn't really get this either until she came down stairs this morning. My parents made it over before she woke up and all she could say was " thank you Nanny and PeePaw for ALL these pwesents, ohhhh thank you , thank you , thank you!" Poor Santa , he got NO credit. The first toy she headed for, her witch.
And yes, she picked this out herself. My only defense is its a Madame Alexander???? Ok, the girl has strange taste. She sees the good in everybody, even witches.
We played with her doll house all day long, in between playing dress up with her costumes from MawMaw and Bop. After seeing all the gifts from everybody I think Its safe to say this girl is spoiled rotten.
Last night after a very entertaining dinner with my side of the family, we made cookies for Santa.

Not only did she eat most of his cookies, she was mad this morning that he had eaten the rest of the cookies!

(the half eaten cookies we left Santa)
And to top off the day, we had a white Christmas. I can remember one time, when i was little, we had a very light "dusting", but today we had 3 or 4 inches! This was such a perfect ending to my favorite Christmas thus far!

Oh where to start....
Well for starters my sweet momma, AKA as Nanny, broke her leg. She turned the wrong way and broke her Tibia in half (gasp). The only positive thing to this is she was in no pain. Even after surgery (yes she had surgery that night) she wasn't in pain until three hours after her surgery. She is slowly learning to get around and do things on her own. The bad thing is, she keeps Lux while we work so Lux is missing her Nanny like crazy. She has been going to the sitter that I went to while I was little, so we are relieved she has a great sitter...

A week ago our poor Lux woke up telling us her tummy hurt. After almost two hours of not being about to clam her down and get her comfortable, we decided to head to the ER. Two X Rays, blood drawn, a IV and a few more tests, they inform us she is being sent via ambulance to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital. The doctors said her white blood cell count was up way to high. After our ambulance ride in the " big blue bus" we arrived at SR. Two more X Rays, more blood tests, more random tests, then a CT Scan (and bless her they have to put them out for this, or should I say bless US, she slept while we cried) and after 13 hours of emergency rooms, it was only a a UTI. Thank God, they were all leaning towards her appendix rupturing.
SO... we have been pretty busy trying to get everyone around here well! No Christmas cards from the Mitchell's will be sent this year, with all of our excitement, I didn't find the time. So please dont think we forgot you when you don't receive one!

And no, this isn't a "woe me" kind of blog post just wanted to write it all down so Lux will be able to remember!
We are preparing for the arrival of Santa and cant wait 2 more weeks for him to come! Hope all is well with all of our friends!

Tradition....

Santa finally sent our elf to us on Saturday night. Lux wasn't, and isn't impressed. I was so excited thinking this would be a huge hit ! We begged her to give the elf a name and she just said "hummm..... wet me think about it" . She was nervous not that the elf would go and report bad behavior to Santa, but that he would "get her". Maybe next year this thing will serve its purpose!

She's a Hoot...

I figured since my entire house is decorated for Christmas and we just had Thanksgiving lunch, it would be OK to go ahead do Lux's Halloween post...

We had about 9 of Lux's friends over for a Halloween "party" . Halloween is huge in our neighborhood so the plan was for us to all leave from our house and go trick or treating ,it didn't really work out that way. Lux was terrified of anything scary...

SO we just stayed at home and handed out candy.
and once again Lee dressed up and scared kids...

Kylie, Mabry and Lux...

Marley, Mabry and Lux...

Ha. When I asked Lux what she wanted to dress up as for Halloween she told me Jesus, I thought the owl would suit her better.... how funny.. maybe next year??

Fall Festivals

I was ashamed to even look at my blog and how behind it is. I reallyTRY to keep it up to date since its our version of a "scrapbook". Lucky for me, we have done absolutely nothing but go to fall festivals every.single.weekend. so much that I quit bringing my camera, because the pictures all looked the same. So....
The first was the Apple Festival and Burt's Pumpkin Patch with Maw Maw and Bop:

This was the best we got of Lux with her grandparents that day...

Then we gave in and made her happy by letting her wade in the creek....

Then we had a play date with the McPherson's, where they took us to their favorite fall festival which is now our favorite as well! I wish we had something like this closer. They had pig races, a corn maze, bike riding, goat, chicken and cow feeding, You can pick your own pumpkin or wildflowers, take a cow/train ride and jump on this huge "bounce pillow" ( i have never seen one of these and I have NO idea the real name)..

Reese and Lux...

Daddies helping their girls on the bikes...

Lux and I on the cow train....

Watching the pig races...

and last, the girls on the "jump thing", and one of the funniest things I have witnessed in a long time!

(these beautiful pictures were take by Jenn, the link to her photography website is here. Thanks Jenn for putting up with me stealing pictures! I just couldn't resist! )

Altar Apparel... and the Fair..

I'm still trying to catch up, bare with me...
Last week we made a trip to the fair again with some of our best friends, The Colstons. Adam and Lee have been friends since they were infants. They have never "lost touch" like some good friends do due to college, marriage or children. Actually, Adam was with Lee the night we met, and even in our wedding. He is the kind of friend you want your husband to hang out with. Lee couldn't ask for a better best friend. Then, he married Crystal. We adore her, and not just because she is Adams wife, but because she is everything you could ever want in a friend. Then comes Miss Mabry. No one meets this child that's doesn't automatically fall head over heels for her. She has the sweetest little soul. We are still all amazed that Lee and Adam have stuck together this long, married girls that became friends than both had girls within a year of each other!
BUT the best way to describe this family is they are Christians through and through. Out of their love for Christ, they have started a clothing line. Cool huh? Their website is altarapparel.com and they even have a blog! ( <----- their link is over to your left. Altar Apperal) I can assure you, they are NOT in this for the money but only to bring glory to God. Take a second to check out their site. Keep in mind Adam designed ALL these shirts himself! I just cant get over it!! Anyways here are a few pictures from our trip to the fair!

Catching Up....

(this is Lux at the fair with one of her best friends Kylie! we adore her and her mommy!)
Well we are finally starting to feel settled with Lee being home. You would think this is the easy part, them moving back home. Its not. Tons of clothes to wash, bedding to store, electronics to hook back up and huge "protein" containers to find a home for. (Its funny when you talk to other wives and they to complain about these containers and their residue all over your counter tops!) THEN they have their routine of staying up until one or 2am, eating dinner at midnight and playing video games 5 hours a day....coming home to a wife and two year old is a reality check!
So backtracking a bit, I flew down to see what I had hoped was Lee's last game of the season, on a Saturday afternoon 3 weeks ago. A family that Lee had became really close to, the O'Brian's, volunteered to come pick me up at the airport (bless them) since everyone he knew in Jacksonville would be at the game. (if they won they would win the championship, if they lost they would play the next night to see who would win). I landed in time to get to the game pretty much "on time". Well since I didnt know what they looked like, their names OR even their phone number, I waited on them inside the airpot and they circled the airport outside, waiting for me. (poor Lee, he forgot the minor detail of texting me their number) So arriving fashionably late to the game, Iwas there in plenty of time to see one of Lee's teammates hit a walk off home run to win the game 1 to 0!!!

so afterwards we celebrated with the team of course. The next morning I insisted on leaving early so we could get home, but then got the bight idea we should stop in St Simons, Ga to "have lunch". We ended up staying the night at the resort The King and Prince which we highly reccommed. It was such a fun and relaxing afternoon and night! here is our view.... (yes the ocean is ugly but the resort was beautiful!

and here are some pics from our bike ride...

We are so exciting about having Lee home finally, and with tons of prayers and a little luck he will be heading out in 6 months to do it all over again!!!
